ETRO’s expertise lay in the broad field of Electronics and Informatics. Their experience of over 40 years has granted the team an outstanding reputation for their work in researching and developing innovations as well as for their education services. Their involvement in the field has greatly contributed to defining the AI Experience Centre.
ETRO constitutes three research groups that work on a wide range of generic technologies in Micro- and Optoelectronics, Speech & Audio Processing, Multidimensional Signal Processing & Communication. The research group thrives on the principle of collaboration to thereby create new exciting opportunities in the field. They also offer courses at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) which are taught both in English and in Dutch making their knowledge accessible not only on a national, but also on an international level.
Due to ETRO’s achievements at being at the forefront in fundamental and strategic basic research they are also in constant engagement with the industry. As a recognized academic body, beyond the industry, non-profit organizations and government agencies also turn to ETRO to get involved at a research and at a professional level. The group is also recognized as a key industrial research pole (IOF) and a group of excellence in Fundamental Research (SRP) at the VUB.
ETRO inspires the AI Experience Centre by repeatedly establishing themselves as researchers and developers of cutting-edge technologies. The innovative attitude present in their work is reflected in our Centre’s aspiration to become an innovation hub.
